There are many different types of Eczema. Being able to identify which type you or your child has will help you cure the eczema.
Atopic Eczema – The Most Common Type
Atopic Eczema, also known as Atopic Dermatitis, is the type of eczema you might think of when you usually think of eczema. The skin turns a little dry and reddish and rash like.
It’s very common in children and is often recurring. It may come and go throughout childhood and just disappear when they reach teenage age.
Dyshidrotic Eczema – Blistery Hands
Another common type of eczema is Dyshidrotic eczema. It usually takes the form of blister-like formations on the hand or feet. It could appear on the person’s palms or in the webbings between fingers.
This is often accompanied by rashes and itchiness.
Varicose Eczema – Legs
Varicose eczema results in itchy, red and inflamed lower legs. It tends to affect middle aged people more than children.
It’s more likely to occur with those with higher cholesterol and is believed to be related to blood circulation.
Asteatotic eczema – Cracks on Skin
Another type of eczema causes cracks on the skin rather than rashes. It can happen in low humidity environments or extremely cold environments.
This type of eczema tends to start out in the legs and make its way up.
Neurodermatitis – Incessant Itching
This type of eczema is very devilish. Instead of directly causing a rash, this type of eczema causes irritation in the nerve endings, bringing on an intense urge to scratch.
When the itch is scratched, it causes inflammation which then causes even more of a desire to scratch. The scratch – Itch – Scratch cycle then becomes a vicious cycle.
Contact Dermatitis
Another type of eczema is contact dermatitis. This is when the skin becomes irritated due to contact with either allergic materials or chemical irritants.
These irritants could be things you don’t normally think of as irritants. Cigarette smoke or chlorine from pools can both cause eczema outbreaks.
There are many different types of eczema, but at the root they’re all similar. The symptoms are similar and there are natural cures for each type of eczema.
