Eczema has many different causes. If you want to not only cure eczema but never get it again, it’s important to understand why you got eczema in the first place. Then, you can avoid the things that cause the outbreak and avoid getting it in the future. Here we’ll go over a few of the most common causes of eczema.

Over-Reactive Immune System

The predominant theory about why eczema happens has to do with your body’s immune system. Basically, eczema is triggered when your body sees something that it views as a threat to the system and over reacts causing the redness, dryness or rashes.

Here are some of the most common things that can trigger such a reaction:

Perfumes, Cologne, Scented Oils, Scented Soaps

Fragranced chemicals that come in contact with your body are a common cause of eczema. Stop wearing perfume or cologne and switch out scented soaps with regular soaps.

Unclean Shower Water

If you live in an area where water isn’t filtrated very well, or if you have old pipes, then toxins could be coming in through your shower and contacting your skin, causing the eczema to happen.

One great way to combat this issue is to install a shower water filter. It’s inexpensive and very effective.

Allergens in the Air

Dust mites, mold, pollens and other allergens could be floating in the air. By breathing those in you take them into your body.

Installing an air purifier in your home or office could make a big difference.

Other Skin Irritants

Fabrics, cigarette smoke, chlorine from pools and other chemicals around where you live or work could contribute to the issue.

Are there any chemicals that surround you on a regular basis? It’s possible these might contribute to your eczema.

Diet

Finally, your diet could also have a lot to do with it.

Foods that are high in acid or high in sugar should both be avoided. Bacteria tend to live better in acidic environments. They also tend to feed on sugar.

Lowering your blood’s acidity level and lowering the amount of sugar you take in will reduce the chances of you getting eczema in the future.

These are some of the more common causes of eczema. If you remove these things from your life, the chances of you getting eczema will go down dramatically.
